The Hundred of Blithing |
||||||||
British Isles Genealogy | County of Suffolk | ||||||||
This Hundred is bounded, on the North, by those of Wangford and Mutford; on
the West and South, by the Hundreds of Hoxne and Plomesgate; and on the East, by
the Sea. The fee was in the Crown, and government in the Sheriff"; until King Edward I., in consideration of the reversion of the Castle of Warkworth, and the Manors of Rouberic, Newburn, and Carbridge, entailed upon him and his heirs, by John de Clavering, settled upon him, among other things, this Hundred, to hold of the said King for life; at whose decease it again reverted to the Crown, and so remains.
