quickly I did not realise it had happened! The girls than covered the area with a dressing they tucked her under some bed covered leaving her to her sleep. I stopped my spraying and left to have a wash and make a cup of tea for Stan and myself while the rest of the group returned to their party!. I do not know when Maggie woke up for I was busy tidying up the cooking things and preparing potatoes and vegetables for supper, asked Sunny Matthews the sister of the Jo and Andrew what she was planning. Sunny usually looked after the cooking during these trips I then returned to the make shift Operating Theatre to see how everything was and how Maggie was progressing. Nobody was there she had gone so I decided to cleared up all the paper wrappings and mess that had been left from the operation Which included my collecting the tent poles which had been used the incentive mainly to get my tent up and my own bed sorted for that night. I presumed Maggie had been moved to a bed wherever else. After a good night’s sleep I had a good wash and shave I started breakfast. After which I cleared up and decided to take a dip in the sea as Stan was up and suggested we went. Everyone else seemed to be having a lie in. About mid day the others started to stir To our surprise there was Maggie sitting at the table eating a Marmalade sandwich and looking as if nothing had happened to her, I asked how she felt and she said a lot better afterwards she got up and slowly walked to her camp bed beside the bus, took out a book and read sat on the bed reading.. We all soon forgot about her operation for apart from not swimming in the sea she walked the shore and paddled in the sea. A year later we took the bus on another holiday our destination was Athens, Greece at least that was our aim; we travelled through France and Austria but only managed half way down the Yugoslavian coast to Spilt. On this trip one of the girls developed real pain in a wisdom tooth, which had given her problems in the past. Joe and Matthew said they would sort it. They decided to take it out something, which proved a lot more difficult than they had expected! They had no Dental tools whatever certainly no pincers so they decided to give her an injection to cut the pain. They started to cut away on the gum around the tooth but she soon yelled with pain so they decided to make her drunk and do the job when she was really stoned. This time she did not seem to feel the pain but though there was a lot of blood and they used pincers from our tool kit the tooth did not release. All they got was huge gashes of blood so much so they gave us. This time the poor girl spent most of the rest of her holiday in bed moaning in pain. The roads at that time in Yugoslavia were often not made up and we soon found this was to prove disastrous for our balloon type Crew Bus tyres. The Old Ox Wagon cartwheels used over there would often loose their steel rim tyre-holding nails as they drove along. In the thick dust and earth of the unmade road these unfriendly sharp nails inevitably remained sticking uprights in the mud just waiting for a bus such as ours! The nails would pass straight up through the cover and we had a bad puncture on our hands. We started to get so many punctures it was impossible to keep up with it. We decided to return north and perhaps make our way to Venice and Italy. On our way home we had a nightmare run passing the outskirts of a large town the weather turned to thunder with heavy rain and we started getting flat tyres. Now on this buss we had a small air compressor driven by the engine and which could be engaged as required. As we were in heavy traffic, mostly carts and heavy wagons we did not stop to change the first
