Abney Park Cemetery,
London, England
Abney Park is a large London Cemetery,
originally laid out in 1840 as one of a group of new burial grounds
designed to relieve pressure on over-crowded churchyards. It was
abandoned by the cemetery company over twenty-five years ago, and as a
site now has the nature of an urban forest. It is being managed as a
nature reserve as well as a local leisure resource and an active,
working cemetery. Since negotiating a lease on the cemetery in 1992
the Trust works to protect the cemetery from further neglect and
promote educational and training projects for residents of north
London.

Assisted
Immigrants Index
The United Kingdom assisted people in their attempt to
immigrate to New South Wales by subsidizing in part or whole through
several assisted immigration plans. The Australian Government records
can be found for those immigrants receiving assistance between
1828-1896. The records are indexed on their home page, though you will
need to order the original record.
